The Navajo Nation Rodeo Cowboys Association, Inc. also known as NNRCA was originated out of Crownpoint, New Mexico in 1975. The late Jake Antone, was the founding father who planted a seed twenty-nine years ago which has grown to be the premier Indian Rodeo Association. Mr. Jake Antone planted this seed keeping in mind the upcoming younger generation who, to this day, carries on the western traditional way of life. Livestock and rodeo competition was his life. He had always dreamed that one day there would be "World Champions" for NNRCA which has come true. He would have been proud but we all know he is.
NNRCA is incorporated with the Great State of New Mexico and governed by NNRCA's By-Laws. NNRCA is now the biggest Indian Rodeo Association covering the State of New Mexico, The Navajo Reservation in Arizona, part of Utah and Colorado, which is now affiliated with the Indian National Finals Rodeo. The Indian National Finals Rodeo consists of Twelve Regions throughout the United States and Canada. Not only has the membership grown, but the caliber of rodeo athletes has produced Champions at the Indian National Finals Rodeo. After 29 years in existence, there have been several "World Champion" Titles brought back to the great Navajo Nation.
The offspring of the late Jake Antone are still continuing to build the legacy for all those who would follow in their footsteps.
Since its establishment in 1975, the elected President, Vice President, Officers and Board of Directors have displayed a personal commitment with all the hard work they put into the Sport of Rodeo, as there have been no monetary compensation involved for their dedicated services.
